Thank you, Thank YOU!

As a Community, WE were able to make a difference in the lives of local Veterans that have served US and our country.  Through Papa Joe’s Annual Pasta Fest Fundraiser, we were able to raise about $8000 for Hernando County Veteran’s HEAT Factory.

Thanks to Grace Brethren Church, Hillside Baptist Church, and The ARC for their assistance in parking. Thank you to Spring Lake Methodist Church and Sunshine Tents for equipment and stage provisions and Grace World Out Reach Church for the use of their sound equipment, sound tech extraordinaire - Ken Crandall, and Pastor Mindy Kerr for MCing the event.  Thank you to our volunteers from Nature Coast Key Club and Hernando High Culinary Club that helped make all the games and concessions possible. Thank you to all our entertainment volunteers for all their wonderful displays of talent. Special thanks to Vanessa Wong and her horses for filling in at the last minute with her greatly appreciated horseback rides. Thank you so much to Kathy Reitz for coordinating and Pat Herman for co-coordinating this event. You ladies are AMAZING! And of course our own Papa Joe’s staff, you ROCK!!  Most of all Thank You to YOU, our wonderful community for showing up to make this event a success! People helping people is what community is all about!!

Happy Mother's Day!

This Mother's Day message is for all women out there, whether you have children, plan to have children, never want to have children, or just can't have children… This message is for you!

 God is the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, the universe, and all that is within them.  Things seen, and things unseen are all His creation. So, I ask you, whom better for a woman go too to find out how women fit into the plan of His creation. To God belongs wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are His. “Blessed is the one who finds Wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from Her (Wisdom) is better than gain from silver and Her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with Her. Long life is in Her right hand; in Her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all Her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of Her; those who hold Her fast are called blessed.” (Proverbs 3:13-18 ESV)

Have you noticed that God refers to Wisdom as Her and She? We are all created in His likeness, man and woman both, but I'm thankful that He gave each gender specific characteristics. God has made women to be soft, warm, gentle, loving creatures. Each of you, as a woman, are the flowers that blanket the fields with color and beauty. The strength of a woman is deep, way beyond sheer muscular skeletal capability. Her endurance surpasses all suppositions when it comes to the care of those she is nurturing. 

Proverbs, the book of Wisdom, climaxes at its close with a description of a woman who fears the Lord. This is God’s ultimate design for women, a picture of Wisdom in its fullest and most loving form. She’s a woman of Noble Character, worth far more than rubies. Her family has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value, she brings them good not harm all the days of her life. She eagerly and without restraint works hard to make sure her family is taken care of. Even when it’s inconvenient and she’s tired, she still provides for family and friends. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. Clothed with strength and dignity, she opens her mouth with wisdom, teachings of kindness always on her tongue. This woman who fears the Lord, which is the beginning of all Wisdom, surpasses all those around her and will be rewarded with the fruit of her hands, and praises in all her comings and goings.

In closing, as I myself have reflected on what God has spoken regarding women while I share this message to you, it has reminded me, as I hope it will you as well, what we as women were designed for and encouraged me to embrace true godly womanhood with passion and love. So, may God our Father empower us with His mighty Word to be all He’s purposed us to be. It’s through Him that all things are possible!
